Leipzig 2025

Spent the week in the German countryside, eating too many pretzels (is there such a thing?), drinking too much Spezi, and having a very relaxing time. There's so much wildlife around there, it's crazy - we saw eagles, groups of herons (never seen more than one at a time before), and so many reindeer. Of course, I didn't bring any decent zoom lenses so no photos of that but trust me, it was lovely.

I made pizza before I left, so that I could have leftovers for breakfast. This was not the best idea, but the leftovers were still there in the morning, which I consider to be personal growth.

Lovely sunrise over Gatwick.

Absolutely loved capturing the shadow of the plane on the clouds.

First of many preztels from a gas station on the way back from the airport.

This drink is so good. The sugar one is better but I'd rather have teeth!

Breakfast pretzels. Glad you can't get frozen pretzels easily over here.

Loved the branding on this vegan frites sauce.

Went out on bikes because Sven said you could go right up to the power station. Did a nice 55km loop. This area is incredibly flat, and very little wind, which I was pleased about because I borrowed Sven's bike and it's a little too small for me, and I don't think I'd have made it with Brighton-levels of wind.

Also glad you can't get this in England.

Like Moths to Flames. I wasn't allowed to bring a camera in, so I had to spray-and-pray with my phone camera.

Silent Planet with Megan from Vexed.

Garrett from Silent Planet, hanging from the ceiling.

Jaffles with my ridiculous Steam Deck dongle chain to play Windblown online as it doesn't have local co-op.

Nice foggy walks around the village.

There's a local Indian restaurant that does good vegan options. They also do paneer, and from the amount you get, it's not very popular - way too much food.

Went out for a drive in Sven's dad's 1948 Dodge Coupe. Beautiful vehicle, and Sven's dad is like an encyclopedia on these things!

Evidence of spring. I see you - no going back now.

Oh. Maybe a little going-back-now.

I love how the lines in the ice around this rock look like a magnetic field.

These BiFis are a pretty good airport snack, but this small water was €3!
Most frictionless flight I've ever been on. Went from wheels-down to leaving the airport in just under 20 minutes (which, at Gatwick, includes 10 minutes of walking to passport control!).
