A lot of the things I use, I've settled on through a lot of iteration, and trial and error. Being a magpie and a hoarder is, perhaps, the worst combination of things to be, if what you like is having money.
Here is some of the stuff that I use in a regular basis. If you're looking for something from this genre of things, you could probably do worse than these things.
Computers
- MacBook Pro M1 Max still going strong!
- LG 4K monitor x2, one in portrait
- BastardKB Charybdis Nano
- SplitKB Aurora Sweep (MX and Choc)
- Apple Magic Trackpad
- iPad Pro M1 not dead yet!
- Intel i5 NUC as a media server
Software
- Vim (neovim)
- tmux
- iTerm2
- Docker
- LaunchBar. Yes I've seen Alfred. Yes I've seen Raycast. LaunchBar is the best.
- Things
- Firefox (the least terrible web browser, which isn't saying a lot; they're all awful)
- iA Writer
- Mimestream
- Flexibits Fantastical
- Plex/Plexamp
- Slack
- Basecamp
- Gitlab (self-hosted)
Cameras
- Canon EOS R5
- RF 15-35mm f2.8
- RF 35mm f1.8
- RF 50mm f1.8
- EF 50mm f1.2 (adapted)
- EF 70-200mm f2.8 (adapted)
- Fujifilm X100VI
- Fujifilm GFX-100S
- 50mm f3.5
Stationery
- Parker Jotter
- CW&T Pen Type C
- rOtring 800 0.7mm
- Tactile Turn Bolt Action (it's a pen even though it sounds like a gun)
- Midori Traveler
Keys
Keys are annoying. I spent a lot of time and effort trying to find some stuff that would make my keys annoy me less, and I've used this configuration for a while now so I think that means I succeeded.
- CW&T Key Wrangler
- Opal Camera tripod screw tool
- Gerber Shard + paracord
- Airtag I'm ashamed by how often this gets used
- Placed Atoms Airtag SKLTN the nicest one of these I've seen
And keys, obviously. I keep my car keys on the quick-release bit because once my dad said it's bad to hang too much from your key whilst it's in your ignition. That's some real Tandy-family generational info, just for you. Also means I don't carry my car keys if I'm not driving somewhere
Misc
- AER Travel Pack 3 X-Pac. I could keep an entire blog about bags, but I won't
- AER City Sling 2 for when I can't be bothered to carry a big bag
- Shure SE846
- Apple Airpods Pro 2
- Audeze LCD-3. I could probably also keep an entire blog about headphones but I think Charlotte would divorce me
- Steam Deck
