The thing that surprised me about this photo is that in the unprocessed 100% crop, you can see our reflection in the (under-exposed) glass.

If you hunt around a bit in that crop, the level of detail captured (even on the admittedly temperamental Perar, when it comes to softness) is really impressive. There's very little detail lost in the shadow, and it's all salvageable if needs be. Personally, I went for a higher contrast and harsher shadows because I preferred the geometry of it, but it's good to know that the option is there if you expose correctly.
