Restaurant Anxiety

I pretty much dread going to new restaurants; I've always had a bit of a weird relationship with food. I'm better than I was but I still get super anxious when trying new places.
I love it when a restaurant has their menu on their website, because I can plan what I'm going to eat before I go, get myself in the frame of mind for it if it's not something I'm really looking forward to, and then be super annoyed when I arrive and they're out of stock of the thing I'd planned. I live in constant fear of "menus are subject to change on the day" - I need to make my plan!
It'd be so much easier if I ate meat, if only because I'd have more choice. Really I'm a terrible vegetarian just because there's so many vegetables I find objectionable. You can always tell which ones are going to get popular as well, because it's only ever ones I don't like: avocado, aubergine, potato...parsnip is making a comeback. Good lord.
I do object when a place has "loads of delicious vegetarian options", and I'm eating cabbage and cauliflower when the omnivores are eating steak, BBQ chicken, and crayfish. I like cabbage and cauliflower, but there's no version of my universe where those are the main event!
Halloumi, hummus and bread to the rescue!
