Modding Game Boy Color
15/11/2020

Since Link's Awakening was such a mess on Switch, I never got to scratch the itch, but playing games on those old unlit screens is a pain.
The modding scene for old Nintendo hardware is crazy right now. It used to be that the only option for a lit display was to cannibalise an AGS-101 GBA. I don't even know if those screens worked with GBC. Now you can get an IPS that just plugs into the GBC's mainboard. Just need to trim the case and a couple of bits off the mainboard, reseat everything, and you're ready to go!

I've also grabbed a little device to pull the images off the Game Boy Camera. It's almost totally useless but it's pretty fun trying to get something usable off it. I need to figure out how to resize these images without blurring them - hopefully there's some image resizing thing that will just scale the pixels.
