Manchester

Sadly, neither of us were even remotely in the mood to explore Manchester. The crappy weather and checking out of our awesome hotel room soured the morning a bit. We tried to visit the Lowry exhibit at the gallery (only counted three Lowry pieces, though. Hardly an exhibit!) but that did nothing to improve our spirits, so went on to the next hotel and lounged about all afternoon watching Family Guy and eating crisps.

I'm slowly coming to the realisation that all cities are basically the same. Chain stores mean that the shopping experience is largely the same in Southampton, Birmingham and Manchester (and Liverpool, from what I remember) and you have to really try to find the decent local shops. Bit of a shame. I used to get really excited about visiting new cities, but I guess living in one takes that away from you.
