And So I Watch You From Afar 3.59 hours Miocene 2.03 hours Oh, Sleeper 1.62 hours Black Lab 1.4 hours The Mars Volta 1.19 hours InMe 1.06 hours Vessels 1.02 hours Spor 0.96 hours La Dispute 0.92 hours Marilyn Manson 0.88 hours Mew 0.77 hours Animals as Leaders 0.73 hours

I know I'm in the minority here, but ASIWYFA's stuff that isn't on their full-length album is so much better than the album itself. Definitely a band to see live if you get the chance. So much energy.

Miocene are one of those great, overlooked British bands. To me, they're a British Tool. Defiant, intelligent and angry with great musical ability. Imagine if nu-metal had gone this way - it would've been amazing.

Vessels are a new one - recommended to me by three separate people (including my father-in-law!). They cross Explosions in the Sky and (lighter) Oceansize. Musically, very easy to listen to, with soothing vocals. Definitely one to work to.

Mew have long been one of those bands that I don't like. They have some outstanding songs (Panda being one of my favourite songs to listen to in any mood) but they never quite maintain that quality. Something must have changed, though, because having listened to A Triumph for Man today, it's a brilliant album. I don't think this week is going to be long enough to delve into everything I want to listen to!

Animals as Leaders are playing a show with Between the Buried and Me (as I mentioned previously), and scarcely a week passes without them going near or into the top of my charts. It's heavy, 8-string shred that doesn't make you want to rip your ears off and stuff them into the holes they leave behind.

After an uncharacteristic evening watching (listening to?) music channels on Saturday night, it has become apparent that I need to revisit some bands, either because of new releases or a change in my music taste:

  • A Skylit Drive (new release)
  • American Hi-Fi (nostalgia)
  • Nirvana (another chance - I'm not a fan of this band)
  • Fall Out Boy (another chance)
  • The Mars Volta (another chance - I've always felt like Deloused in the Comatorium was the best thing they've ever released, and they've never since been near it in terms of quality. Time to see if I'm still right!)
